Priyanka Chopra fails to attend Parineeti’s National Awards ceremony

It is a big moment for Parineeti Chopra. Winning a national award at so early on in her career is a big achievement. But unfortunately her favourite cousin Priyanka Chopra couldn’t be part of it, even though she intended to.

Priyanka has said to have earlier promised Parineeti that she will make sure to travel with her to Delhi to attend the national award, she couldn’t manage to do so.

Instead, Priyanka sent her mother, Madhu to accompany Parineeti to Delhi.

Last year Priyanka had thrown a party to celeb the success of Ishaqzaade, for which Parineeti won the national award.

A source says, “Priyanka was excited to go to Delhi. She was all set to attend the ceremony but due to some work commitments, she had to cancel her visit.” The source adds, “Priyanka, however, ensured that her mother went instead to give Parineeti the emotional support.” The event was on last Friday and Parineeti celebrated over the weekend in Delhi with her friends and family.

Talking to us from Delhi, she says, “Not only my aunt (Madhu), about 14 relatives came for the function and were whistling, cheering for me even though it was supposed to be a sombre ceremony. We later had a party for 70 other family members. We were all singing, eating and laughing. Everyone was excited to meet each other after such a long time.” So finally, it turned out to be a big, boisterous Punjabi reunion party, even without Priyanka Chopra.
Ranveer Singh To Play Kareena's Brother in Zoya Akhtar's Upcoming Movie

Ranveer Singh To Play Kareena's Brother in Zoya Akhtar's Upcoming Movie

Casting for any multi-starrer project turns into a veritable game of musical chairs. And Zoya Akhtar's ambitious next is no different.

The film, which reportedly has Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor on board, is being keenly followed because of the possibility of Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan being cast as siblings for the first time on screen. Their track is apparently based on the lives of siblings Farhan Akhtar and Zoya.

Now that Ranbir Kapoor is no longer a part of the project, and Zoya is not willing to wait for him to be free of his commitments, the focus has shifted to Ranveer Singh.

According to a source close to the developments, Ranveer has been sounded out for the film and the actor is keen to grab the opportunity.

"Ranveer missed out on working with Kareena in Ram Leela. This time, he wants to make it work. Even if it means he does not get to play the romantic lead," said the source.

Zoya has, so far, refrained from confirming any of the reports about her film.

Manasi Parekh Gohil don't want to limit herself on TV

Manasi Parekh Gohil don't want to limit herself on TV

Manasi Parekh Gohil in getting a new lid with his musical output and more in a chat with TOI

Decoding showbiz equation seems to have taken the actor and singer Manasi Parekh Gohil to exploring new frontiers. Manasi, is seen multitasking in life, to occupy the space with its numerous batches advertising advertising, taking as example an anchor and be equally committed to their efforts as the game plays Nachiyo Bahut Gopal. In a chat with TOI, Manasi talks about his latest creative outlet (as she is dating her single sung along with Jahnvi Srimankar), the propensity to take risks in entertainment and much more. Excerpts from the interview:

His game Maru Gayu Piyu Rangoon that has so much appreciation. What made you change focus to sing?
I've been leaning towards music and wanted to get something concrete since winning the reality show Star Ya Rockstar music. In fact, it had gotten so many offers as an actor-singer to publish the series, but I wanted to do something that will give me more creative satisfaction.

Is there a risk involved in launching itself an independent musician and singer?
As an artist who does not take risks. Risks allow you to grow. The independent music scene in India is very promising now. So I thought this is the time to get one. An album would not have been economically viable at this juncture. So Jhanvi and I was the only ourselves. What is encouraging is today the young in India are exposed to world music and there is a large audience in India, looking for something more than the music of Bollywood. A lot of new ground is being created as a result.

In recent times, we see that multitasking. You made her debut as a theater director and have been spotted in many TVC too.

I just do not want to limit myself to a particular genre on television. This made me think about doing something more than usual. I have not departed from the main occupation. All my activities are interrelated. I branched right to entertainment related fields. Therefore, I am doing commercials, directing theater and started producing plays too apart from acting in shows. I have a show in a row. I've always been curious to try my hand at several things.

As a singer you think fusion music found sponsorship in India?
Experimentation and work interests me melt. So I took Saawariya, Thumri sung my late Nirmala Devi (Govinda's mother) and reworked with the infusion of electronics. The fusion of Indian classical music with a mix of western notes always inspired me. In today's world, where almost everyone is exposed to the merger - like fusion food, many languages, including spoken English is a fusion of English and Hindi - Hinglish. So this makes it easy for independent musicians who aspire to create their own space in the hearts of music lovers.
MTV Roadies X Episode 11 – Finale part 1

MTV Roadies X Episode 11 – Finale part 1

We’ve come to the second last episode of possibly the last season of Roadies. Sad. But still not confirmed.

So Ramandeep, Sonal, Gaurav and Anirudh make it to the finale from Ranvijay’s team and Mohit and Palak from Raghu’s. The thing about this season is, I believe anyone can win. And the best part is everyone deserves to win as well. Yes, even Palak! Time and time again she has proved to be better at this game than most other girls and she will do anything to survive. Politics and performance.

Mohit is a general favorite and there would be no surprise there if he wins because he definitely deserved it the last time around in season 8 and he absolutely deserves it this time too.

Anirudh has been an underdog.Nothing in his season. His luck didn’t work. He was horrible at auditions. But there’s a spark in him now. He has matured. The way he talks, reflects it. He wants to make something of himself in the industry and this is the only best way he can. AND HE MOST DEFINITELY WILL after this season.

Gaurav is a person full of potential. Sadly it doesnt translate into the show.

Sonal has made her mark in the season. I won’t be surprised if I find her cute face in an Indian television soap.

Ramandeep has weaker chances of winning this than Palak but she is definitely my favourite and I will be happy if she does win (considering the feminist aatma in raghu… this season’s winner COULD BE  a girl.. who knows  )

THE FACE OFF

Nobody had anything logical to say except Avtar.
Vikas, shutup. You lost to Ramandeep on fair grounds.
Suchit, please. Stop embarassing yourself.
Geetika Budhiraja (not) and Swati aunty, please shut the fuck up.
I loved how Jahid stayed quiet and so did Diyali.

CHESS BOXING

I loved how things come to bite back at you when you pair up with people who you don’t like. Do you guys remember Taranjeet paired up with KanakRaju and lost in the finale? Even though she was friends with this other guy I forgot the name of…
History repeated itself and this time the victim was sadly Sonal
The reason I believe the task was very well balanced was Gaurav, being an MMA fighter, should have been able to knock Anirudh out during the first 2 minutes. But he couldn’t. This proves that Anirudh is better at chess as compared to Gaurav than Gaurav is at boxing in comparison to Anirudh (I hope I am making sense).
THE FINAL FOUR

So we have Anirudh, Ramandeep, Mohit and Palak in the finale. And no, I still don’t think there’s a wild card because everyone who was eliminated was eliminated on fair grounds.
WHY I BELIEVE ANIRUDH WINS ROADIES X
I am not completely sure about it but I have a feeling it’s Anirudh who wins this season. He has a fiery spark. His graph has constantly moved up. And he will definitely be an equal competition to Mohit.
Another stupid reason to believe he wins is because if he wins, Ranvijay and Raghu both win. Think about it
MTV Roadies X Journey – Episode 10 (Tawang) : The Journey Ends

MTV Roadies X Journey – Episode 10 (Tawang) : The Journey Ends

Finally the day has arrived. I figured it would be a short season this year but this short!? Kind of relieved to see a great, eventful journey coming to an end but also bitter to say goodbye to my most anticipated show of all times. I will miss you Roadies X. We’ll meet, until next year!

Tawang Bazaar Task
This is the only type of task Roadies was missing. Apart from some really good mind games that we haven’t seen this season, the shopping task is what I was waiting for. The whole thing was very simplistic but I have a few issues about the timings. I don’t think there’s a possible way to make this task fair. I also believe that Raghu’s team needed another elimination in order for the finale to be symmetrical.
There’s just no possible way to determine if the shops were equidistant from where the teams started and whether Raghu’s team had to walk more to reach them or Ranvijay’s. I don’t like saying this but I still believe it was biased towards Ranvijay’s team to keep 4 people in the team.
Similar situation occured when Ramandeep was forced to give up her bike and save her team which laid balanced grounds for the team swap. Team swap could never have occurred with disbalanced team memebers.

Ramandeep’s Immunity
This was also a very sensitive issue that I think was pre-delivered. They knew that Ramandeep was going to be discarded, they knew that if she was the only one left non-immune, she’d be directly voted out. How convenient to immune the person who was discarded.
I do not, in any way, think this is wrong by the way because the creators know where the show is headed with the consequent dynamics and they have to try their best in order to save it from going down the drain.
Palak’s Luck
Season 6 finale, Kiri cutting Palak’s rope to take Nauman one for the finale. A task in which no girl could have competed in against a guy. Kiri’s decision resulted in Palak not getting the chance to do the task but it also got her eliminated from the game. How convenient! The similar situation mimics here. Palak’s saved and not allowed to go on and perform the task BUT THIS TIME, SHE IS PERMITTED IN THE FINALE INSTEAD OF BEING ELIMINATED. Is this Raghu’s way of balancing things up for what he did back in season 6?
Surprisingly, Kiri and Harri, both the guys who prevented her from doing the pulley task, gave the same frikkin reason (achay competition say compete karna chahta hun) MY ARSE!
The Battle Task

They didnt mention the weights they used in both the pulleys and that is wrong. If they used the same weights, it’s unfair because mohit has a higher body weight than Harri and there’s no way he could have defeated him with the same amount of mass dangling from his chains.
Without a doubt, Mohit and Palak were allowed to continue.
Overall
Didn’t like the episode. Too predictable and too meddled with to set stage for a perfect finale. 6/10
What to expect in the finale
Lots of fight and people saying that “*insert name here* doesn’t deserve to be in the finale”
Possible wild card entries, possibly 2 contestants. (?)
Ramandeep teaming up with Anirudh (?)
Gaurav beating the hell out of Anirudh (since Gaurav has been given constant chances to prove himself by designing a task that lies in his comfort zone ; remember the first task)
Anirudh still winning because Sonal/Ramandeep will beat the other at chess (?)

    Bombay Talkies Movie review

    Bombay Talkies Movie review

The hugely anticipated Bombay Talkies released this Friday to a fantastic response.

    Here are some critics' reviews.

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Rajeev Masand Site:CNN IBN (IBNLive)

You may have a favorite amongst the four stories, because yes, this is cinema, and it touches different chords in different individuals. But there’s no denying that Bombay Talkies is a breath of fresh air – a wonderful gift to audiences on the 100th birthday of Indian cinema. I’m going with three and half out of five for Bombay Talkies. Through four consummate storytellers, we’re reminded just how much the movies mean to us.

Ratings:4/5 Review By: Taran Adarsh Site:Bollywood Hungama

Backed by Viacom18, the four prolific film-makers set out to narrate stories that are unconventional, borrowed from real life, about the common man. Also, each of those stories has a reference to Indian cinema/stars. The challenge lies in not merely narrating a story within a budget, but also narrating a tale effectively encompassing myriad emotions… On the whole, BOMBAY TALKIES is one of those infrequent movies wherein you get to eyeball the superior efforts of four top notch film-makers in less than two hours. This reality alone makes the film a compelling watch, while the superior performances and absorbing themes that the movie prides itself in only serve as an icing on the cake. This celebration of cinema is a must watch!

Ratings:4/5 Review By: Anupama Chopra Site:Star World ( Hindustan Times)

Bombay Talkies is a unique experiment that works very well. I’m going with four stars. The collaboration between four leading directors also suggests a confidence and maturity that was rare to find in the industry even a decade ago. I believe that things can only get better from here.

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Srijana Mitra Das Site:Times Of India (TOI)

Bombay Talkies (BT) celebrates Bollywood's centenary - by deconstructing Bollywood's formula. Loving families, skin-tight genders, glittering stardom and happy endings get tossed about by the four directors here. Does this work? Yes - and no.So, BT's a good experiment, celebrating movies, mindsets and Mumbai's moods - but it isn't the coolest film doing so. Woh picture abhi baaqi hai, mere dost. Note: You may not like this film if you like Bollywood inside its formula.

Ratings:3/5 Review By: Saibal Chaterjee Site:NDTV

Each segment of Bombay Talkies has its moments, either in terms of the quality of the acting or in the little narrative sleights that hit home. One is left with the feeling that a once-in-a-century cinematic experiment should have had more heart and heft. But do not let that put you off. In encapsulating the dreams, disappointments, falsehoods, flashes of truth, elements of emotional artifice and inescapable realities of life, these four stories, each distinct in emotional timbre and visual feel, do present, within their limited ambit, a range of cinematic expressions that are in themselves laudable.

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Shubhra Gupta Site:Indian Express

Bombay Talkies is a film that gives you what all good films should: it has stories, it has emotion, and it has drama. It has people you want to know. You want to tap them on the shoulder, and ask, 'hey, you got a minute? Sit, talk to me.' Finally, Bombay Talkies fills you with hope. If Bollywood can make a film like this, then it must be doing something right. Bombay Talkies speaks of you and me, and speaks to you and me. Not all segments are

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Tushar Joshi Site:DNA

With each one of them being successful in delivering commercial hits, Bombay Talkies offers them a platform to indulge and explore another side of their creativity. Mind you these aren't necessarily art-house stories and each chapter has that signature stamp of their makers. Bombay Talkies is a format that needs to be praised for its concept. The sequencing of the stories works and the pace is swift, never showing signs of lethargy. If this was a tribute to 100 years of cinema, then we need to have an array of directors from different genres pay such homages more often.
