Sanjay Dutt wants Policegiri to gross Rs100 crore

Sanjay Dutt wants Policegiri to gross Rs100 crore

Renowned south director KS Ravikumar, who has teamed up with Sanjay Dutt for his Hindi film debut Policegiri, says the actor wants the film to do a business of Rs100 crore.

Dutt, 53, is currently serving his sentence in Pune's Yerawada jail in connection with 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

"He was happy with the way the film shaped up. He said he will be happy to know that the film did well. He had told all of us that he would be happy if the film does Rs100 crore (business)," director KS Ravikumar said while expressing his sadness that Dutt was not there with them now.

Praising Dutt for his acting skills, Ravikumar said, "He is a great actor and a very good performer. He was jolly on the sets, he was at times moody. But, he was very much into the character. He used to give the shot in one take. He is a director's artist."

Even though Dutt is quite an experienced actor in Bollywood, he never questioned the vision of the director, who is making his debut in Hindi cinema.

In March this year, the Supreme Court upheld Dutt's conviction in the 1993 serial blasts case for illegally possessing firearms and sentenced him to five years' imprisonment. Dutt is currently serving the remaining three years of his term.

The apex court gave him time to surrender to complete his film projects, as huge money had been invested in them by the producers.

"We did not just wind up the film. After the judgement came, we were left with 10 to 15% of the shoot. He tried to give maximum time for the film. We have not shortened or cut anything from the film," Ravikumar said.

Policegiri is an action film which will see Dutt playing a police officer and Prachi Desai as his love interest. It is the remake of south movie 'Saamy'.

"Cop films are doing well in south as well. I am a commercial director, we have made changes according to Hindi film audience. We have confidence that the film will do well," Ravikumar said.

The makers insist that the film, slated for release on July 5, has "never seen before" action sequences.

Sanjay Dutt creates new record by dubbing for ‘Policegiri’ in just three hours.

Sanjay Dutt, who had recently stated that many in the film industry have been spreading false news about him, has created a new record by dubbing for ‘Policegiri’ in just three hours.

Talking to a leading daily, producer Rahul Agarwal said, “It is humanly impossible for someone to be as good as Sanju. He completed dubbing for the entire film in just three hours. I was really touched to see that he still came the next day to ensure that everything is good to go. Hats off to Sanju.”

Dutt had to surrender to the police last month around, April 18, but had appealed to the Supreme Court to grant him some more time to complete his impending work.

The actor will also be seen playing the role of Sher Khan in ‘Zanjeer’ remake, a character essayed by veteran actor Pran in the original version. The film in question will mark the debut of Ram Charan Teja, the son of Telugu superstar and Congress MP Chiranjeevi.

Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Policegiri’ To Release On 5 July

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has been racing against time to complete pending shoots as the day of his surrender, May 18, approaches closer.

We hear that the actor has been working in double shifts to make sure no one incurs losses after the Supreme Court’s verdict for his imprisonment in relation to the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Sources reveal that Dutt has been working for producer Rahul Aggarwal’s ‘Policegiri’ like a man possessed since the last few weeks. To everyone’s surprise, the actor wrapped up the dubbing of his portions in the film in just three hours.

Said Rahul Aggarwal, “He completed dubbing for the entire film in just three hours. I was really touched to see that still he came the next day to ensure that everything is good to go. He is intended to finish Policegiri soon so that he can start with his other movies too. To save time, he started dubbing for the film after we are done with the shoot. Sanju is one of the most proficient people I have ever met.”

With the film’s dubbing now completed, we hear that ‘Policegiri’ will release on 5 July.

Interestingly, this clashes with Balaji Motion Pictures’ Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Lootera’.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt has also finished his shoots and dubbing for the neo ‘Zanjeer’. He is currently overseeing work on his home production titled ‘Hasmukh Pighal Gaya’.
