Fast And Furious 6 Movie Review

Fast And Furious 6 Movie Review

Fast & Furious 6 evokes diverse reactions. With a wafer-thin plot and a lot of sleek action, Fast and Furious 6 is definitely a test of patience. Reason? The audience is thrown into the conflict of the story with great speed and velocity. Chances are that if you blink, you may miss the crux of the story and worst is that if you are not an "F&F" fan, then you'd definitely be lost in the rigmarole of the speeding cars and crashes, hand-to-hand combats and snappy one-liners.

Unlike the franchise's previous films, which focused on cars and their different makes, this one focusses on cars, an army tanker and a cargo plane - brought in to deliver a mega climax. It also leans heavily on family ties and bonding. In the sixth installment, the franchise's favourite car thieves, who are scattered across the globe, leading a luxurious life after their successful heist in Fast & Furious 5, join forces to take down an international criminal. The film begins with Domnic Toretto (Vin Diesel) along with his best pal and brother-in-law Brian (Paul Walker) flaunting the speed and vigour of their cars in the scenic Canary Islands.

Domnic's sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) is expecting Brian's child. Domnic assures him that nothing will make them go back to their old lifestyle. Meanwhile, there is a blast in Moscow. Federal Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is investigating the case. He has been tracking an organisation of lethal, ruthless and skilled mercenary drivers across "4 continents and 12 countries". He learns that the leader of the organisation, Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) is accompanied by a fearless second-in-command revealed to be none-other than Domnic's 'dead' lover, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Hobbs knows the only way to outmatch this rugged team is to assemble a team with just as much will and drive. Knowing Letty's a key-player, Hobbs lands up in Canary Island to recruit Domnic.
Chris Gayle to feature in dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa

Chris Gayle to feature in dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa

Cricketer Chris Gayle has been approached to feature in a dance-based show. Indian sports stars seem to have a special affinity with dance-based reality shows. In the past, we have seen Baichung Bhutia, Sanath Jayasuriya and even hockey coach Mir Ranjan Negi shake a leg on television.

Now, the latest news is that crowd favourite Chris Gayle has been approached to feature on such a show.

An insider says, “Gayle has become a rage this season, with his ‘Gangnam style’ moves creating a riot during the ongoing T20 tournament. Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’s makers felt that it would be interesting to have him on the show, because of his style, charisma and great moves. He has been approached for the show and he will revert to the offer in a few days.” Gayle is known for his fun demeanour on the field and was part of the T20 World Cup winning West Indies squad that had famously performed the Gangnam moves in 2012.

To add more cricket spice to the show, the makers had earlier approached Kris Srikkanth as well. A source says, “In the sixth season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, the channel has lined up TV stars, while earlier they had a mix of people from other walks of life as well. But since Eijaz Khan hurt himself recently, he was unable to shoot the first episode of the show on May 22. With the next episode to be shot after 10 days, it seems it might be tough for him to recover enough to dance. He might have to bow out altogether but he will take that call later.”

After presenting India with some of the most talented and loved voices, the popular singing talent show that has captured the imagination of the nation – Indian Idol – is back – with a twist. For the first time, Indian Idol will have children aged between 5 – 15 years participating in the singing talent competition to become India’s first ever Indian Idol Junior. The show that has carved a niche for itself as the biggest singing talent show in India, will open its doors to young singers as Indian Idol Junior begins on its mission to find the best junior singing talent in the country.

Speaking about the brand new season and adding a fresh perspective to it, Leo Burnett Mumbai, the agency for Sony Entertainment Television, has conceptualised the campaign ‘Gaano ka wahi jaadu, ab bachchon ki awaaz mein’. The thought is delivered in its true characteristic style. The campaign consists of four commercials which showcase iconic songs like ‘Tujhe dekha toh yeh jaana sanam’, ‘Ai meri zohara jabeen’, ‘Yaadon ki baarat’ and ‘Radha on the dance floor’, recreated exactly like the original but performed by children.

The idea brings out what the viewers will expect from Indian Idol Junior this season – a complete fun and entertainment show portraying the talents of children who have voices as good as the ones in songs that all of us have enjoyed listening for so many years.

Anupriya Shetty, Brand Partner, Leo Burnett, said, “While Indian Idol has always been about showcasing great singing talent, our challenge this year with Indian Idol Junior was how to get people of all generations sample the show. Therefore, the idea we conceptualised tackled the challenge beautifully with our selection of songs which appeal to all generations.”

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Executive Creative Director, Leo Burnett, added, “We wanted to do something unpredictable, and since it was Indian Idol Junior this year, we were sure that it had to be enjoyable and should not take the focus from the main message of it being a singing show by children who are great at singing and are here to showcase their talent.”

The campaign has been executed by Director Sanjay Shetty and his team at Opticus Inc. who have painstakingly shot all the four TVCs keeping in mind not to lose the essence of the original songs, and yet create magic with children.

Gaurav Seth, Senior VP and Marketing Head, SET, said, “Indian Idol has been an exceptionally popular show and a successful format for Sony. After the huge success of Indian Idol 6 last year, we wanted to give the show a fresh standpoint as well as to discover newer talent horizons. Hence we have come up with Indian Idol Junior. Our campaign idea ‘Gaano ka wahi jaadoo, ab bachchon ki awaaz mein’ beautifully captures how music, which plays such a strong role in our lives, will now be showcased in the voices of our younger but hugely talented contestants.”

Seth further said, “The TVCs were designed to break clutter in an extremely crowded television space. The idea of transplanting kids into iconic film song sequences, created by Leo Burnett, has worked magically. The surprise, when the lead protagonist is discovered to be a child in the sequence, has endeared the spots among all our viewers and we hope this provides the desired impact to drive audiences in droves to our show.”
