WIFT felicitation of National Award Winner Women

Women in film and television association of India felicitated the women National Award winners of 2013 in the Mumbai chapter of WIFT. The evening saw the presence of many women achievers from across the country, who came in to be a part of the event.

Bollywood actors Kangna Ranaut and Imran Khan on Thursday evening felicitated women who have made a mark in films and television under the aegis of WIFT (Women in films and television).

Filmmaker, Kiran Rao, who is also one of the advisory board’s members warmly welcomed the guests present. “ Its really exciting what we are doing today, we have so many interesting women who are doing all kinds of different work in the industry and they have come from all over the country and have made time for this evening so I would like to thank all of you,” she said.

Rao expressed her happiness for women winning national awards this year and hoped that WIFT would soon expand to other cities of the country.“It’s actually great because it’s what WIFT is suppose to do, it is suppose to connect women in this fraternity from across the country. Off course this is just the Mumbai chapter of WIFT and we are hoping for many such chapters across the country,” she said.

“Slowly we will have WIFT Chennai, Kolkata etc. And today we have women from all over the country who all have won National Awards this year and we are so proud of them that we thought we should have a little evening raising a toast to them,” Rao added.

Many B-Town Celebes like Imran Khan, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Kabir Bedi joined in the ladies to celebrate their success. Khan appreciated the initiative and expressed his concern over men dominating the film industry all over the world.

“I think it’s a wonderful initiative. The sad truth is that our industry and industries all around the world have always been dominated by men and the fact that these talented women have actually come together and are supporting each other, and are encouraging more women to enter this field and are encouraging new talent so its wonderful,” Khan said.

With so many successful women coming together under the same roof to celebrate their achievement in the film and television industry was indeed very magical.
